What is a Runtime environment in Informatica?
A Runtime environment is the execution platform that runs a data integration or application integration task. You must have at least one runtime environment setup to run tasks in your organization. It is the server upon which your data gets staged while processing.
You can choose either to process via the Informatica servers or your local servers which stay behind your firewall.
Informatica supports the following runtime environments- Informatica Cloud Hosted Agent, Serverless runtime environment and Informatica Cloud Secure Agent.
In Informatica, the runtime environment refers to the set of resources and configurations required to execute data integration workflows and tasks. It includes:
Integration Service: Manages the execution of workflows and sessions, processing data transformation and movement. |
Repository Service: Manages the metadata and interacts with the repository database, storing all the metadata created during development. |
Domain: The primary administrative unit that contains nodes and services, providing centralized management. |
Nodes: Physical machines or servers where the Integration and Repository services run. |
Grid: A group of nodes that can share the workload, enhancing scalability and availability. |
Operating System and Hardware: The underlying platform on which the Informatica services are installed and executed. |
Database Connections: Configured connections to various source and target databases used in the data integration processes. |
